Ladd Boris of Creative Artistic Companions has been a lifesaver for our family by providing unique, personalized companionship and more to our step-mother who suffers from early-onset dementia. Over the past two years, Ladd has found a way to connect with her, initially through their shared passion for music and Broadway shows (Ladd is a former opera singer and has a lovely voice). Over time, the connection that he has developed with her has become one of deep love and caring. Today, Ladd not only gives our step-mother companionship and a connection to the real world, but he also supports us in her care at the memory care facility where she resides. In fact, Ladd is universally appreciated at the facility, where he interacts with staff and other residents as well (and occasionally will give a little concert!). My siblings and I often say that we hope we have a Ladd in our lives should we ever need such support. As the Director of Therapeutic Recreation in an Assisted Living Facility, I met Ladd and one of his clients about a year ago, when she moved in. The Facility caters exclusively to residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia/Memory Impairments. From the moment I met Ladd and his client, I was completely in awe of their incredible bond. His talents are endless. He has the voice of an angel if you are lucky enough to hear him sing (which he does all of the time & regularly sings to my residents) and a pure heart of gold. Ladd Boris was a companion of my late sister Rivka for three years until she passed away a couple of months ago. Despite her severe dementia, Ladd was one of the only people who managed to get through to her. Every time he came her to visit, her face lit up. Ladd is one in a million! As a nursing professional, to see such warmth, compassionate and loving affection is a blessing. His client lights up when he walks through the door. He shows her great affection. He sings to her and takes her out to local museums, parks and attractions in the area. They sing Broadway show tunes together. Ladd has been working with my family for over 4 years now, bringing his encyclopedic knowledge of film and theatre to engage my father in interesting and therapeutic conversation.
